Barnstable Woman Accused Of Stealing From Charity

A Barnstable woman accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the charitable organization she founded has pleaded not guilty.

Gina Clark founded Touched by Angels to raise money for families who had lost loved ones or were dealing with catastrophic medical situations. But prosecutors say she held fundraisers that raised thousands of dollars and kept most of the money for herself.

She pleaded not guilty Thursday in Barnstable Superior Court to 32 charges, including larceny by embezzlement over $250, gross fraud and illegal lottery scheme. She was released without bail on the condition that she not attend any charitable fundraisers.

Clark's attorney tells the Cape Cod Times his client is the victim of a "witch hunt" and says he denies all the charges.
