Special Elections To Decide 2 Mass. House Seats

Special elections are being held to fill two vacant seats in the Massachusetts House.

In the 6th Worcester District, Tuesday's election is a 'do-over' of sorts after a judge ruled that last November's race between Democratic incumbent Geraldo Alicea of Charlton and Republican Peter Durant of Spencer ended in a tie.

Alicia and Durant are on the ballot once again, along with independent candidates Peter Boria and Robert Cirba.

The other special election is being held in the 10th Middlesex District to fill the seat that became vacant when former Rep. Peter Koutoujian was appointed sheriff of Middlesex County.

Republican James Dixon of Waltham and Democrat John Lawn of Watertown are vying for that seat.
