Hazmat Situation At Boston Fed Building Probed

The Boston Fire Department is investigating a possible hazardous materials situation at the Tip O'Neill federal building.

Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald said Tuesday afternoon that firefighters are investigating a piece of equipment in the basement of the building.

There were no immediate reports of evacuations. No further information was immediately available.

The building is near the Boston Garden sports arena, where the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning play a conference semifinal game Tuesday night, and North Station.
