This article is more than 11 years old.

Boston Pride Week is being marked with a parade and festival in the city. The events on Saturday celebrate the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities, and promote equality for the groups.

The 41st annual Pride Parade began on Tremont Street in the South End and continued to City Hall Plaza. Gov. Deval Patrick and Mayor Thomas Menino were among the politicians who showed their support.

Boston Pride Week began last Friday with a ceremonial raising of a rainbow pride flag at City Hall.

Pride Week ends Sunday with afternoon block parties in Jamaica Plain and on Stuart Street.
