Injuries Reported On I-495

A serious rollover crash on I-495 in Andover has reportedly resulted in several injuries and backed up southbound traffic for miles.

State police say two vehicles were involved in the crash, including an SUV that rolled over on the side of the highway. The accident happened at about 6:15 a.m. near the exit to Interstate 93.

Only one lane of southbound traffic was getting through the scene after the crash, but the highway was later fully reopened.

State police did not know the exact number of injuries or how serious they were.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 44-year-old man from Riverdale, Md., was taken by helicopter to Lawrence General Hospital with serious injuries.

The other driver was from Haverhill, Mass., and was taken to an area hospital.
