Just hours before the new fiscal year and just in time for the holiday weekend, State House leaders have settled on a 2012 budget for Massachusetts.

It's a compromise between spending plans proposed by the House and Senate, and lawmakers in both chambers plan to vote on the new plan Friday.

State House News Service reporter Kyle Cheney joined Morning Edition Friday to talk about the key points of the budget.
