FBI Agent Testifies At Bail Hearing For Bulger's Girlfriend
An FBI agent has testified that the longtime girlfriend of reputed former Boston crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger willingly changed her identity, made clandestine phone calls to her twin sister and moved from place to place with Bulger during their years on the run.
The testimony came during a bail hearing Monday for Catherine Greig. She was apprehended with Bulger last month in Santa Monica, Calif., after 16 years on the run.
Bulger was one of the FBI's most-wanted fugitives and is charged in a racketeering indictment with participating in 19 murders. Greig is charged with harboring a fugitive.
FBI Special Agent Michael Carazza portrayed Greig as Bulger's willing companion.
Magistrate Judge Jennifer Boal recessed the hearing until Wednesday, when family members of some of Bulger's alleged victims may testify.
