State Inspectors Find Dangling Light Fixture In Big Dig Tunnel

State transportation inspectors found a dangling light fixture (PDF) in one of the Big Dig tunnels Thursday.

An engineer spotted a light that was hanging on one side Thursday afternoon inside the tunnel between Leverett Circle and Interstate 93 South.

Workers found some corrosion on near the clips that secure the light. State officials say the light has been secured, and they did not find problems with other lights nearby.

Earlier this year, a light fell from the ceiling of another Big Dig tunnel earlier this year, prompting a system-wide inspection of the lights.
