Rep. Neal: U.S. Could Save Billions By Closing Offshore Tax Loopholes

Earlier in the negotiations over raising the nation's debt limit, there was talk about changing the tax code. After weeks of negotiation, however, both Republicans and Democrats have apparently left tax-related proposals out of their competing plans.

That's a disappointment for Rep. Richard Neal, who has been pushing to close what he calls "an offshore tax loophole" for years.

The Springfield Democrat told Morning Edition's Deborah Becker that business interests are mixing with political interests in the debt ceiling debate.
