Chatham Bans Swimming At Night To Prevent Shark Attacks

The town of Chatham is taking another step to prevent shark attacks. It is banning swimming at night.

Chatham Harbormaster Stuart Smith said the rule is aimed mainly at people who swim around sunrise and sunset.

“We're trying to hone in on the evening and the twilight areas, dawn and dusk, because we think those are the times when the sharks may be more active,” Smith said.

Earlier this week, Chatham banned swimming within 300 feet of seals.
