How Greig's Looks Have Changed

This article is more than 11 years old.

- A reporter's notebook -

Before Catherine Greig, 60, was caught, people described her as a vain woman who often visited the beauty parlor and the plastic surgeon. But in federal court Thursday, where she pleaded not guilty on charges of conspiracy to harbor and conceal a fugitive, she looked 10 years older than her identical twin sister, who sat in the front row watching the hearing.

Sure prison doesn’t allow hair dye and makeup, but it’s clear from the deep lines in her face and her completely white hair, her appearance didn’t change overnight.

Santa Monica, Calif., neighbors of Greig and "Whitey" Bulger I spoke to described Greig as a white-haired woman who looked older than Bulger, when in fact she is 21 years younger. Someone even suggested maybe she stopped her beauty treatments as a way to hide. Maybe that worked for awhile.
