Nominees Set For Special Mass. House Election

The candidates are set for a special election to fill a vacant legislative seat in southeastern Massachusetts.

Democrat Roger Brunelle Jr. of Middleborough and Republican Keiko Orrall of Lakeville were nominated in their respective primaries on Tuesday and will square off in the special election scheduled for Sept. 20. Voter turnout was light.

They are seeking to fill the House seat left vacant when former Rep. Stephen Canessa, a New Bedford Democrat, resigned in June to take a job with Southcoast Health System.
