Boston Hit-And-Run Suspect Fatally Shot By Police

Authorities say a man was fatally shot by Boston police at the end of a 20-mile car chase after a hit-and-run incident.

Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said the pursuit began at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday and ended at Exit 14 on Route 3 in Rockland. He said the man was shot by Boston officers when he struck a patrol car, injuring two officers.

"The driver of the vehicle was shot by police," Cruz said. "He was taken to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:45 p.m."

Cruz said his office is investigating.

Cruz said a state trooper and a Rockland police officer also were hurt in the pursuit. Their conditions weren't released.

Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said the officers pursued the man because a woman was struck and injured trying to get out of his car in the Roxbury neighborhood.
