Many Red Sox fans are still struggling to come to terms with Wednesday night's unprecedented late-season demise, and to accept that so many things could have gone so wrong for their team.

To get some perspective on the historic loss, WBUR's All Things Considered host Sacha Pfeiffer spoke with Dan Okrent, a half-year Wellfleet resident who is a former public editor of The New York Times and has written two books about baseball.

Okrent is also a Chicago Cubs fan, so he knows something about suffering for your team. Pfeiffer began by asking him whether he'd watched the fateful game.

This program aired on September 29, 2011.
