Effort Under Way To Recall Lawrence Mayor

Another effort is under way to recall Lawrence Mayor William Lantigua.  A group called Uniting Lawrence says it plans to launch a recall effort next month.

The group called It's Your Right failed in its effort to recall the mayor two months ago when the city clerk could not verify all of the more than 5,000 signatures it gathered.

The new group has many of the same top leaders as It's Your Right.

Uniting Lawrence volunteers want to capitalize on the Nov. 8 election and gather some of the required 5,232 signatures as registered voters leave the polls.

Precinct captains will also lead signature drives in neighborhoods.

Lantigua did not return a message seeking comment.
