Mass. Woman Gets W.H. Honor For Work With Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and the Obama administration is honoring a Massachusetts woman's work to prevent domestic abuse.

Suzanne Dubus is the executive director of the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center in Newburyport. Dubus says the award recognizes that progress has been made for victims over the last decade.

"There are some days where it feels like we're fighting the same fight over and over and over again. And sometimes we are. And sometimes we're not, and I think those are the moments that need to be celebrated," Dubus said.

Fifteen domestic violence advocates will honored at the White House Thursday.

This program aired on October 19, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
