Study: New Lawyers In Mass. Face Difficulty Getting Hired

A lot of newly-minted lawyers in Massachusetts are having big trouble finding jobs. A new report by the Boston Bar Association says many new lawyers aren't able to find work at big firms, instead working for smaller firms or starting their own practices.

Boston Bar Association President Lisa Goodheart says the recession has changed the landscape.

"New lawyers have to be more entrepreneurial perhaps than they did in the past, and they have to take charge of their own careers earlier," Goodheart said.

Goodheart said that presents a challenge, since large firms offer a lot of career development opportunities.
