Occupy Worcester Breaks Up Encampment

The future of the Occupy Worcester protest is uncertain after protesters broke up their camp as their permit expired and were denied the chance to move to a new part of the city.

The group broke down its camp at Lake Park on Sunday and some protesters moved to Lincoln Square.

Police told protesters that they would not be allowed on the grass and had to keep moving on the sidewalk.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that one protester set down a sleeping bag at the new site, but got up and agreed not to sleep there.

There were no reports of arrests.

The protesters were also considering an encampment at the Worcester Vocational School.

City Manager Michael O'Brien says an encampment there would not be allowed.
