Boston City Councilor Ross Weighs Run For Congress

Boston City Councilor Mike Ross has formed an exploratory committee as he weighs a run for the congressional seat held by Rep. Barney Frank, who is retiring at the end of his term.

Although Boston is not part of the newly redrawn district, Ross grew up in Newton, which is part of the northern tip of the district, which runs south to include parts of Fall River.

The open seat is drawing intense interest from other potential Democratic candidates.

State Sens. Cynthia Creem of Newton and Marc Pacheco of Taunton each said they are considering a run. Joseph P. Kennedy III, an assistant district attorney and son of former U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy II, has also been mentioned as a potential candidate.

Republican Elizabeth Childs, of Brookline, is running for the GOP nomination.

This program aired on December 8, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
