DA: No Body Found In Worcester Fire Rubble

The Worcester district attorney says no body was found in the rubble of an apartment fire that killed a firefighter last week.

Jon Davies, 43, was looking for someone reported missing in the fire Thursday when part of the building collapsed on him. His partner, 50-year-old Brian Carroll, was injured.

District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Monday the cause of the fire hasn't been determined. He said investigators are seeking the man reported missing as a possible witness. His name wasn't released.

Early met Monday with local, state and federal investigators.

Davies' death came days after the anniversary of the Worcester Cold Storage building fire that killed six firefighters on Dec. 3, 1999. Those firefighters also were looking for people feared to be trapped.
