Rose Kennedy Greenway Unveils Salary Structure

The nonprofit agency that oversees 15 acres of parkland in Boston above the subterranean Big Dig highway is coming under fire after it disclosed that it pays six-figure salaries to five officials, including $185,000 per year top its executive director.

The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy's salary structure came to light after the Boston Herald sought salary information from executive director Nancy Brennan. Brennan accidentally sent an email intended for her publicist to the newspaper asking if she should refuse to answer the question.

That conservancy gets about half it $4.7 million annual budget from the state.

David Tuerck of the Beacon Hill Institute says the agency needs to be more transparent.

The chairwoman of the conservancy defended the salaries, saying they are fair and the conservancy does a good job.
