Mass. Politician Accused Of Domestic Violence

Police in two states are investigating allegations of domestic violence facing former Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Christy Mihos.

Yarmouth police say the first incident occurred in West Yarmouth on July 7 and the second happened in Stuart, Fla., on Monday.

The Yarmouth Police Department has suspended Mihos' license to carry firearms and seized a handgun he owns.

Mihos could not be reached for comment Saturday.

Yarmouth police began investigating the case Tuesday night.

The Martin County Sheriff's Department in Florida is also investigating.

The 62-year-old Mihos, a former convenience store magnate from Cape Cod, ran unsuccessfully for governor as an independent in 2006 and again as a Republican in 2010.

He was fined $70,000 in in 2010 for using personal and business funds to pay more than $112,000 in expenses incurred during his 2010 campaign.
