DiMasi To Fight For Pension Reinstatement

The lawyer for former Massachusetts House Speaker Sal DiMasi will be in Boston Municipal Court Monday fighting for his client's pension benefits.

The state suspended DiMasi's pension last fall after he was sentenced to eight years in federal prison for using his influence to steer millions in state contracts to a software firm in exchange for kickbacks.

DiMasi's lawyer is arguing the former speaker should be able to retain his nearly $5,000-per month state pension month while he appeals his conviction.

DiMasi will not appear in court Monday.
