1 Dead, 1 Injured In Martha's Vineyard Shooting

Police say a husband is dead and his wife has been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound after a shooting at the estranged couple's Martha's Vineyard home.

Authorities say the violence erupted at 19 Skiffs Lane in West Tisbury shortly before 8 a.m. Friday.

Police got a report of a man pointing a gun at a woman at the home.

They heard on the way there that the woman was suffering from a gunshot wound and the man was dying.

Police found the couple upstairs in the home, and say the husband died at the scene.

Authorities identified the man as 64-year-old Kenneth Bloomquist, and the woman as 63-year-old Cynthia Bloomquist.

A Martha's Vineyard Hospital spokeswoman says the wife is in stable condition and undergoing surgery.
