Demand For Kindergarten Slots Rises Sharply In Boston

Boston Public School officials are reporting a sharp spike in demand for kindergarten slots.

Applications for kindergarten seats have increased by more than 25 percent compared to last year. As a result, 300 of those applicants have been placed on waiting list.

Superintendent Carol Johnson joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss the spike in demand.
