DA: BC Student Apparently Died After Accidental Fall Into Reservoir

A preliminary examination confirms that the body found yesterday in the Chestnut Hill Reservoir is that of Franco Garcia, and the early findings on the death are "consistent with an accidental fall into the water," according to the district attorney's office.

The Suffolk County DA says state pathologists "conclusively identified" the remains as those of Garcia, the 21-year-old Boston College student who had been missing since Feb. 22. Yesterday, the DA identified the body as Garcia's based on a preliminary identification.

A cause of death is still pending additional toxicological testing, but, the DA says, "the examination did not reveal any broken bones or other significant injury."

The DA says those observations, along with other evidence, lead examiners to believe that Garcia accidentally fell into the water and died.

The investigation into the death, the DA says, is ongoing.
