Motorcycle Rider Killed In Hadley

Authorities continue to investigate a weekend crash on Route 116 in Hadley in which a car traveling the wrong way struck and killed a motorcycle rider.

Police say 24-year-old Daniel Haley of Amherst, was fatally injured in the collision Saturday morning, which sent two other motorists to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Investigators say 24-year-old Brittini Benton of Sunderland was driving south in the northbound lane near the UMass football stadium. She was taken by helicopter to Baystate and discharged by Sunday night.

No charges have been filed in the accident, but Hadley police have contacted the office of Northwestern district attorney.

The driver of the third vehicle was also hospitalized.
