Ceremonies In Mass. To Mark Sept. 11 Anniversary

Ceremonies are planned in Massachusetts as the state joins with the nation in marking the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Events in Boston on Tuesday are scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. with a wreath-laying ceremony at the 9/11 memorial on the Boston Public Garden.

The remembrance will continue with a flag lowering ceremony and moment of silence in front of the State House, followed by the reading of the names of Massachusetts residents who died in the attacks.

More than 200 victims had direct ties to the Bay State.

At 9:30 a.m., the annual Madeline Amy Sweeney award will be presented at the State House. Sweeney was a flight attendant on one of two planes hijacked from Logan International Airport and flown into the World Trade Center.

This program aired on September 10, 2012. The audio for this program is not available.
