Microsoft Unveils Plans For Larger Cambridge Footprint

Microsoft has unveiled its expanded footprint in Cambridge. On Thursday it made public its plans for a technology center on seven floors of a Kendall Square building.

Microsoft already runs One Center at Kendall Square — for research. The more than 100,000 square feet of new office space are for sales and marketing, and consulting to corporate clients.

"Our campus here at Cambridge is going to be a center of technology capabilities that our customers, our partners, and even across the street all these students can take advantage of," said Craig Hodges, the software company’s New England chief.

Microsoft already employs 850 people in Cambridge, and is hiring more as it opens new retail locations around Boston.

This program aired on September 27, 2012. The audio for this program is not available.
