Some Mass. Schools Delayed By Freezing Rain

Several Massachusetts school districts have delayed the start of classes because of icy road conditions.

The National Weather Service has posted a winter weather advisory through 2 p.m. Monday for central and western Massachusetts.

Police said freezing rain caused a number of accidents early Monday. The Telegram of Worcester reports that two lanes of Interstate 290 westbound were closed due to a four-car crash with injuries at Exit 8.

Worcester was among the school districts set to open two hours later than usual because of the weather.

Temperatures have been warmer in the Boston area and the precipitation has been falling as mostly rain.
