Lawrence Official Fired After Arrest

A former state representative arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order has been fired from his job with the Lawrence Department of Public Works.

Jose Santiago was hired for the DPW job in November by his political ally, Mayor William Lantigua.

Santiago took over for a man who was fired while on leave to care for his dying wife.

A judge on Monday released Santiago on personal recognizance.
