Teen Shot On Way To Church Is Recovering

The 13-year-old Boston boy who was shot in the stomach on his way to church last week could soon be released from the hospital.

Gabriel Clarke's mother, Shirley Clarke, says even though her son is up and walking, he will live with a small-caliber bullet embedded in his back for the rest of his life. She says he's also afraid.

"He's hurting, both physically and emotionally," Shirley Clarke said. "At times he will break down and ask me why. When he asks me why, I want to cry too but I don't want him to see me upset so he can be more upset."

The eighth grader was shot while walking to choir practice Friday evening. Doctors surgically repaired his small and large intestines.

Police are still searching for a suspect.
