Mass. Gaming Panel To Interview Director Candidate

The panel overseeing the state's casino gambling law may finally be on the verge of hiring an executive director.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission plans to interview Rick Day, executive director of the Washington State Gambling Commission, during its weekly meeting Thursday.

Day was the only finalist identified for the job. He's been in his current job since 2001 and is said to have more than 30 years of experience in the criminal justice system.

The Massachusetts agency hasn't had an executive director since it began operations last March.

In May, Carl Stanley McGee declined an offer to serve as the acting executive director, citing the distraction from an allegation that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy in Florida in 2007. Criminal charges in that case were dropped.

This program aired on February 5, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
