It's 'Truck Day' For The Boston Red Sox

It's a sign that spring is near: Tuesday is Red Sox "Truck Day" at Fenway Park.

A tractor-trailer filled with team equipment leaves the park Tuesday and heads to the organization's spring training facility in Fort Myers, Fla. — a 1,480-mile trip.

According to the Sox, the 53-foot-long 18-wheeler contains, in part:

- 20,400 baseballs
- 1,100 bats
- 200 batting helmets
- 20 cases of bubble gum
- 60 cases of sunflower seeds

Pitchers and catchers are due to report to the team facility in Fort Myers on Sunday.

The Sox, of course, are coming off their worst record in almost 50 years.

This program aired on February 5, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
