New Roxbury Community College President Selected

The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education has approved Roxbury Community College trustees' selection to lead the school.

Valerie Roberson, currently the vice president of academic affairs at the Joliet Junior College in Illinois, will be the school's 15th president.

“We have a once in a generation opportunity to create a community college that will be recognized as a national leader," Roberson said in a statement. "I look forward to beginning by listening and learning from the students, staff and community about their dreams and hopes for Roxbury Community College.”

Roxbury Community College has faced several scandals recently, including allegations of mismanagement and that staff did not properly investigate sexual assault allegations.
