More than 3,000 runners are taking to the streets of Greater Boston Sunday to pay tribute to slain MIT police officer Sean Collier.

"Run to Remember" organizer and Boston police officer Cecil Jones says this year's race is especially important.

"This race will give us a chance to show the world that we didn't forget what Sean Collier did for us," Jones said. "And it could happen to any officer, whether it's someone who sits in a cruiser in Boston or someone who sits in a cruiser in Los Angeles."

Runners this year will wear bibs with Collier's name and MIT police car number — 179.
