Thousands 'Run To Remember' Fallen Officers

Despite cold, windy, wet weather, thousands of runners gathered in South Boston on Sunday to pay tribute to fallen MIT police officer Sean Collier.

Each year, the "Run to Remember" is dedicated to police officers killed in the line of duty. But after the Boston Marathon bombing, this year's race was different.

The ninth-annual race was dedicated to Collier, 27, who died April 18, allegedly shot by the marathon bombing suspects.

Steve Pubins from Long Island, N.Y., is the son of a police officer who participated in the run.

"Lot of energy, lot of positive energy, people just trying to say, we can do this without anybody getting in our way," Pubins said.

The half-marathon, organized by the Boston Police Runner's Club, sold out, with 3,000 people registering after the marathon attacks.

Among the runners were members of the MBTA Transit Police, the Chicago Police Department, and the NYPD.
