Boston Concert To Become Memorial Day Tradition

A musical tribute to America's fallen soldiers will cap off Memorial Day observances in Boston.

City officials say the outdoor concert scheduled at Christopher Columbus Park on Atlantic Avenue will mark the beginning of a new holiday tradition.

The free concert, called "Remembrance 2013: A Musical Tribute to Our Fallen Heroes," will include performances by the Boston City Singers and Metropolitan Wind Symphony.

Organizers say the event will begin with a procession that will include veterans of U.S. wars from World War II to present-day conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The concert replaces a Memorial Day observance that has been held for the past 66 years at McGillivray Park in the Fens.

This program aired on May 27, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
