Man Shot Dead Outside Boston Apartments

Police say a man has been fatally shot outside a Boston public housing apartment building.

The victim was shot while standing next to a car outside the Holgate Apartments in Dorchester. The Boston Housing Authority describes the 80-unit building as housing for the elderly and disabled.

Police say the shooter approached the victim on foot and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The man's name was not released but police say he is in his 20s.

There was no word on arrests.
