Menino's Prostate Surgery 'Went Very Well,' Doctor Says

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is recovering at Brigham and Women's Hospital after having prostate surgery.

Dr. Kevin Loughlin, of the Brigham, issued a statement Friday afternoon saying the two-hour procedure "went very well," and that the mayor was resting comfortably.

The 70-year-old had the elective surgery to relieve symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate.

He's expected to be in the hospital for the next few days.

On Thursday, Menino received an honorary degree from Harvard University.
