350 Possible Jurors Ruled Out In Bulger Trial

Prosecutors and defense attorneys for reputed gangster James "Whitey" Bulger are reviewing hundreds of questionnaires filled out by prospective jurors in Bulger's racketeering trial.

More than 800 people were asked to fill out lengthy forms to be used to screen prospective jurors.

Lawyers on Friday agreed to rule out 350 of 500 jurors who have already completed questionnaires.

Some said they had already formed an opinion and would not be able to decide the case based on the judge's instructions.

Others said it would be a hardship for them to sit on the jury for three to four months.

Eighteen jurors will be chosen.

Judge Denise Casper said she hopes prosecutors and defense lawyers can give opening statements on Wednesday.

Bulger is charged in a racketeering indictment with a long list of crimes, including 19 killings.
