Thanks to unseasonably warm weather recently, the strawberries are slightly early and growers in Montague, Sunderland, Gill and Whately have begun picking this year's crop.

The Recorder reports that Montague's Red Fire Farm has been picking strawberries for the past three weeks.

Sorrel Hatch at Upinngil Farm in Gill says they hope to start pick-your-own operations on Tuesday.

Other growers are aiming for the weekend.

At Nourse Farms in Whately, Tim Nourse says the pick-your-own fields may be ready by the weekend, depending on the weather.
