Tim Tebow Cut By The New England Patriots

Tim Tebow was cut by the New England Patriots, according to a press release by the NFL. The release puts an end to another chapter in the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback's itinerant NFL career, said NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

The Patriots surprised many when they signed the former University of Florida star in June. Tebow spent an unproductive 2012 season buried deep on the New York Jets roster after his storybook run with the Denver Broncos in the second half of the 2011 campaign. That season, Tebow led a handful of late-game comebacks and guided the team to a dramatic wild-card victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He never clicked as the Patriots' No. 3 quarterback, completing 7 of 18 passes for 90 yards in two preseason appearances.

Tebow was asked after Thursday's preseason finale if he was worried about being on the roster bubble.

"I'm blessed, because of my faith, that I don't have to worry about the future because I know who holds my future," Tebow told reporters. "It's something I try to live by. It really gives you a lot of peace in whatever circumstance I'm in."

In his three-year NFL career, Tebow has completed 173 of 361 passes for 2,422 yards, with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions. As a rusher, he has 197 carries for 989 yards and 12 touchdowns.
