State Rep. Marty Walsh and Boston City Councilor John Connolly beat out 10 other candidates Tuesday to advance from the preliminary race for mayor of Boston to the Nov. 5 general election.

Larry DiCara, former president of the Boston City Council who ran for mayor in 1983, joined WBUR's Morning Edition to look ahead to the general election.
