AG Coakley Seeks Info On Marathon Bomb Donations

Attorney General Martha Coakley says she wants to make sure donations raised after the Boston Marathon bombing are being spent appropriately.

Coakley said Thursday that her office is distributing surveys to charities and fundraisers that collected money after the attack. The surveys will ask the groups how much money they raised, how they raised the money, and how the funds have been used.

Coakley's office will produce a report on the responses to the survey, which will be published online. She said she wants to ensure public accountability, and that the effort is similar to what other states have done after tragedies.

Coakley's office has already charged three individuals with attempting to defraud One Fund Boston, which was set up to help aid victims of the bombing.

The attack left three dead and about 260 injured.
