Former U.S. Sen. Cowan To Return To Law Firm

Ex-interim U.S. Sen. William "Mo" Cowan is returning to his former law firm.

Mintz Levin announced on Tuesday that Cowan will serve as chief operating officer for ML Strategies, the firm's government relations arm. He will begin the new job next month after completing a term as resident fellow at Harvard University's Institute of Politics.

Cowan served for about five months in Washington as Massachusetts' interim senator after John Kerry resigned in January to become U.S. secretary of state. He was appointed to the post by Gov. Deval Patrick after serving as Patrick's chief of staff.

Edward Markey won a special election in June to serve out the remainder of Kerry's term.

Cowan previously worked for Mintz Levin from 1997-2009.

This program aired on October 8, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
