UMass President Launches Statewide Bus Tour

University of Massachusetts President Robert Caret is launching a statewide bus tour to highlight the impact and commitment of the five-campus system to the state.

The tour starts Tuesday in Springfield and Hadley before heading east to Lowell.

Caret will visit Fall River, New Bedford and Hingham on Wednesday and wrap up on Thursday with visits to Boston and Milford.

He is scheduled to tour businesses and technology facilities, meet with mayors, and attend discussions with the university's business partners.

The tour will also enable Caret to highlight various projects UMass has underway with the private sector and allow him to engage UMass students participating in public-private partnerships developed by the school.

UMass has 72,000 students at campuses in Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth and Lowell and the medical school in Worcester.

This program aired on October 15, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
