Death Penalty Recommendation For Bombing Suspect Expected Friday
ResumeLocal federal prosecutors representing U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz were expected to deliver a recommendation to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Friday on whether to seek the death penalty in the case of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev. We will likely not know what the recommendation is, as by Justice Department rules, it's confidential until Holder announces his decision on or before his deadline of Jan. 31.
Don Stern, former U.S. attorney for Massachusetts, joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss this recommendation process, and the implications it has for the trial.
This program aired on November 15, 2013.
