Brockton Man Pleads Not Guilty To Roxbury Slaying

A Brockton man has been ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty to fatally shooting a worker at a Boston cellphone store last summer.

Elosko Brown was arraigned on murder and other charges Monday following his arrest Sunday.

Authorities allege Brown shot 19-year-old Joseph Morante  twice during a robbery attempt inside the Roxbury iWorld Accessories store on the afternoon of July 31.

Prosecutors say Brown then aimed at Morante's head, but the gun jammed.

Morante, who had turned 19 just two days earlier and was engaged to be married, tried to chase Brown but collapsed on the street and died at a hospital.

The 27-year-old Brown was arrested with the help of surveillance video.

His lawyer did not argue for bail.
