Firm Seeks MBTA Commuter Rail Contract Documents

The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad has filed a complaint in state court seeking release of public documents related to the MBTA commuter rail contract it lost to another bidder last week.

The complaint comes after the board approved a multibillion-dollar contract with Keolis Commuter Services, an offshoot of French transit giant Keolis.

MBCR is also asking the court to extend a 10-day deadline to contest the decision.

The company says it needs the extra time to review bid materials and evaluate grounds for a potential appeal because the MBTA hasn't released documents related to the contract decision.

The MBTA said the process has been "open and transparent" and it has posted key procurement documents on its website. It said it expects to post an unredacted copy of the successful proposal as early as Wednesday.
